Born in the Netherlands in 1956, Pieter SLAGBOOM graduated from his masters at the Academy of Art and Design ST. Joost, the Netherlands in 1981. He lives and works in Middelburg, the Netherlands.
Intellect plays a major role in Pieter SLAGBOOM’s work, which frequently draws from the fields of religion, biology, architecture and art history. His work focuses exclusively on drawing, and has had solo exhibitions at venues including: Vleeshal Center for Contemporary Art Middelburg, the Netherlands; Bridget Donahue, New York and Office Baroque gallery, Antwerp. His work was recently included in group exhibitions at Madeln Gallery, Shanghai (curated by Xu Zhen ), Middle Gate III (curated by Philippe Van Cauteren and Pierre Muylle), Geel and Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, the Netherlands. Slagboom will have a solo exhibition at the Drawing Centre Diepenheim scheduled in 2025 and another group show this Summer at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, the Netherlands.
Pieter SLAGBOOM received the Vleeshal Art Prize in 2018.
